Apple’s iPod Touch is svelty. But that hasn’t stopped Sony from going full steam to try to unseat the sexy champ. The Walkman X series takes center stage and struts its Oled skillz with Wifi swagger.
The Sony X series comes in two capacities right now, the 16 GB NWZ-X1051FBSMP and the 32 GB NWZ-X1061FBSMP. They cost $299 and $399 respectively. The X series features an Oled screen for superior color fidelity. If you haven’t seen an Oled screen in person, you will be amazed at the quality. Yes, it’s a 3 inch screen but most hands on reviews seem to like it fine.
I couldn’t find out what kind of drive they put in this thing. I’m assuming it’s a standard micro drive. But the real kickers, besides the Oled screen, are Wifi support and digital noise cancellation. Those things clearly put the Ipod touch right in its scope. And from initial hands ons, the sound quality puts the Touch to shame. Can’t wait to try.
